This worksheet is dedicated to Portuguese teachers/students

Here I am teaching adults again!

It's not always easy because there aren't as many resources as for children...so I create my own activities based on articles I read and thinking about their real needs.

We have been studying how to ask and answer about our personal data (they are beginners), so I decided to create this activity so they can practise how to speak in a real situation.

They have to imagine they are working in a hotel and need the customer's personal data. One of the students asks the questions and then they change roles! I'm using this tonight and I really hope it works!

For those who are teaching English to adults and feel that all the worksheets and audio resourses are too childish, here's an advice:
I've found out that the best book to use in adults classes is
New Headway-Beginner
The written exercises are very good and the CDs have great listening exercises. The contents are related to our daily life and explore all the vocabulary we REALLY use when we speak English, with friends or at work.
You have different levels, CDs, students book, workbook and teacher's files with answer keys and activities. Honestly, I'm loving it!
There are different ways of getting it. You can do a free download of the students' book, CD1, CD2, Workbook, and Teacher's files.
But don't forget we should buy the real book and respect the author's rights...
Hope you like it!

Teaching adults is preparing them to real conversations and not just teaching some words or all the grammar rules without thinking about how practical those contents are... So I realized that videos are a really good way of practising the most important contents. I found a great collection of videos at YouTube, which are great to use during classes. Check this one out

You can just show it or create listening exercises. I've used them and the results were really great. And the best news is that there is an amazing number of videos divided by themes!

Hope you like it!

Most of my students are older than me, so their interests are a bit different than mine. They already know how to greet someone in English, but are they able to identify all those words in a song and count how many times they are said in that same song?
I've chosen "Hello Goodbye" from Beatles and I can't wait to see their reaction...Hope they like it!

Teaching adults is a great experience. I've done it before, but my last experience with adults was teaching German. I was a bit confused first, but now that I've put my head and heart in this new project it all seems easier.
These classes need different contents because adults have a bigger knowledge and life experience, so we must try to avoid childish classes and worksheets. But don't ignore games or group activities such as role-plays, because they always work!
Here's an example: on our first class I presented these images to make a brainstorm about the English culture. Mr. Bean was a success!!
Thanks to all my dear readers who made some comments to give me ideas and advices! It's nice to know that someone follows my work and cares about it. A huge hug for all of you***
